Let customers speak for us
International Shipping to Canada
International Shipping to Canada
We ship to Canada using USPS Priority Mail International and UPS Worldwide Saver. Your shipping cost at checkout covers transportation only.
What You Pay at Checkout
The shipping cost shown at checkout. That is it. We do not collect duties, GST/HST, PST, or brokerage fees up front.
What You Pay at Delivery
Your package crosses the border under a Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) agreement. Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) assesses duties and taxes based on the declared value of your order and the product classification.
Our mats are classified under HS code 9506.91 (gym and fitness equipment) with China as the country of origin. This classification does not qualify for USMCA/CUSMA preferential duty rates. You can expect:
- GST/HST based on your province (5% to 15%)
- Applicable import duties per the Canadian tariff schedule
- Carrier brokerage or entry fees: USPS hands off to Canada Post for a flat entry fee around $10 CAD. UPS Worldwide Saver includes brokerage in the shipping cost. UPS Standard/Ground applies sliding-scale brokerage, which is why we do not offer it to Canada.
The carrier will contact you to collect these charges before releasing your package, or will collect at the door.
Why We Ship This Way
Collecting duties at checkout often results in overcharging customers. By shipping DDU through USPS or UPS Worldwide Saver, you pay the actual government-assessed amount and avoid predatory private courier brokerage fees.
Refused or Returned Packages
If you refuse delivery to avoid paying duties, the package is either returned to us or abandoned. In both cases:
- Original shipping charges are non-refundable
- Return shipping, storage, and abandonment fees are deducted from any product refund
- Abandoned packages receive no refund
Before placing your order, confirm you understand that duties and taxes will be collected at your door. Email hello@swankymat.com with questions before you check out, not after your package is already in transit.
Luxury meets play without sacrifice.
Our decorative exercise and mats are a statement piece that enhances your space while supporting your wellness journey, and your joints too.
